A quick life update

In honour of a lot of changes in my life over the past month, I thought that a quick life update would be much appreciated and would also explain my lack of presence online, especially on my main social media base – Instagram.
So, welcome to a quick life update with Emily. As I have previously mentioned, my life isn’t all that interesting. However, over the past few months, there has been a lot that has happened.
As most of you know, I’ve seriously been struggling with writing lately. It’s been over a month since I’ve been able to open my Detonation document because I’ve hit such a bas spell of writer’s block that just thinking about writing makes me feel surprisingly ill. I don’t really understand why but, in order to keep myself distracted from my current lack of being a writer, I’m spending more time going out. And by out, I mean outside. With people.
Yes, you read that right. I actually, finally, have a social life. I’ve started to go out pretty much every evening (which is strange) to have walks in the dark and also eat cheap ice-cream (that actually tastes very good considering it’s not even a pound). There’s something about being out after the world has slowed down that’s pretty awesome.
Over the past month, I’ve been rock-pooling on my local beach and bowling. I’ve also been on a huge observation wheel (which was scary as anything when it continued swinging once we’d stopped at the top). Also, I’ve found out more about my local area in the past month than I have living here for the past eighteen years. There are hidden ponds, loads of parks – which are usually abandoned after seven in the evening – and lots of places to eat which I didn’t know existed until I’d walked past them. I have been having the best time in a very, very long time.
And who have I been spending all this time with? I’m pretty sure most of you know that I now have a pretty special someone in my life. Yes, he’s amazing, but no I’m afraid I won’t be talking much about him because:
1) He is a person and has a personal life.
2) There are some creepy people out there that do some creepy stuff.
3) I don’t really feel comfortable talking online about my relationship (that information is reserved for people I trust enough to tell in person).
Anyway, moving on. How else has my life changed? Driving. I can now safely drive a car for an hour without too much assistance. I’m not really a big fan of driving, but I know that it’s essentially now days to get anywhere. I’m hoping it doesn’t take me too long to pass my test, but only being on my ninth lesson I know it’s going to take at least a couple more months. What I can tell you, however, is that my driving is going well (at least that’s what I’m being told) and that I seriously do not like reverse bay parking.
Another major milestone in my life was results day, which was a few weeks ago now. Thankfully, I passed all of my classes – An A in Criminology, and in English (yay! I really wanted an A), and finally a C in history – and now know that if I ever wanted to start looking into the possibility of university, I wouldn’t have to worry too much about my grades. I’m proud of myself and as a result treated myself to the entire Sherlock Holmes books (all nine) by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, also known as the author of one of my favourite fictional characters.
So, to wrap up this quick life update, I’m glad to say that I’m much happier than I was about a month ago.
And, on the note of being happy, I just want to thank all of you readers for sticking around and taking a slight interest in my life. See you all next week.
