Welcome…

Being an author isn’t as easy as I originally thought. The only way you’re going to get anywhere, is by working hard and not being afraid to put yourself out there. So, hi. I’m Emily, and I’m currently a self-published author and life-blogger.

I have been writing for most of my life and really enjoy reading. My goal in life is to become a successful writer, enough so to make a living from it. However, overall, my goal in life is to be happy and healthy.

Currently, I have three books published, which I am very proud of. You can find a lot more information on them by checking out the ‘My books’ section of this website. I started writing Dimensions, the first book in the series, in the summer after I left high school. To be precise, I started writing it in early May, at the start of my GCSE exams. I had finished the first draft by mid-August. In total, I spent 127 days on my first and second draft of Dimensions, and it was all worth it. The next two books flowed out from there.

“Her throat was cut.” Says the quiet boy on the end, I notice his soft brown curls.
“No, I mean we don’t know what was happening. We don’t know why she died.”
I frown and push back against the wall, pulling my legs to my chest.
“I’m not dead.” I say defensively.

Publishing my books in April 2018, when I was only seventeen myself, scared me a little. For the first few months it was great. Then I started to doubt myself. The struggle of college really threw me off a little, and it’s taken me a while to finally feel happy with my work again. Now, I view myself as brave to be able to publish my work at such a young age. In fact, because of it, you can grab a copy of Dimensions, or Façade and Evade (my favourite) whenever you like!

“Julian…” I tried to protest but the knife tugged tighter at the skin stretched over my throat.
“Goodbye, Leah,” the point of the knife dug into my throat, “rot in hell.”
Managing to stifle a gasp, I held my breath as my brother pulled the knife across my neck. My eyes widened as a strong feeling swept through me, the awful realisation I was going to die.

For a while, the only writing I published was the books in my Dimensions series. At least, this was the case until I decided to set up a blog in June. By the 19th, I had written, edited and uploaded my first blog for all of you to read. In fact, if you want to read it you can check out the section marked ‘My blogs’.

To begin with, putting myself out there for the world to see was a little foreign to me, as an introvert. In fact, it still feels strange to me when I hit the publish button to this day. However, it is one of the most freeing things I can do, and it takes me a step closer to where I want to get. I am very glad I took the leap and started to blog.

Yes, you read that right. I actually, finally, have a social life. I’ve started to go out pretty much every evening (which is strange) to have walks in the dark and also eat cheap ice-cream. There’s something about being out after the world has slowed down a bit that’s pretty awesome. – A quick life update.

There you have it, some information all about me. Feel free to have a browse of my website, maybe read a few blogs. Also, if you like, check out my books and grab a copy as well! Enjoy.
